### Finding Referenced Elements in Expressions in Architect

In some cases, it can be useful to identify the element that an expression references, particularly when troubleshooting. However, retrieving the referenced element is not always possible.

When opening an expression in the Architect to locate the referenced item, this functionality is unavailable if the expression appears in a pop-up window.

This occurs when opening the **Properties** view and accessing an expression by clicking the **fx** button. The expression then opens in a pop-up panel.

If you right-click an element within the pop-up, a menu appears.

However, selecting **“Select reference item”** does not yield any results.

### Alternative Method to Find the Referenced Item

To locate the referenced element, follow these steps instead:

1. **Select the element** in the interface.

2. **Go to the Advanced tab.** (If the tab is not visible, enable it from the **View** ribbon by selecting **Show panel**.)
3. Locate the **“$param-value”** line.

4. Scroll to the end of the line and click the **eye icon** to view the full expression.

5. The expression will now open in the **Expression panel** instead of a pop-up. Right-click the desired element to open the menu.

6. Click **“Select reference item.”**

7. The referenced item will now be displayed.

This method ensures that you can successfully identify referenced elements without being restricted by the pop-up limitation.
