It can happen that customer has cluttered data across different excels sheets, including outdated data. The customer would then need to filter the old data and transfer into a new Excel sheet.
How can I prepare an Excel sheet template for the customer that can easily be imported into Novulo later?
Creating Excel files with an embedded import definition
You can create an Excel file to read data into Novulo. The advantage of these files is that the mapping to Novulo records and fields is “baked in”.
Create an export definition with the fields you want to import later. To do so, watch this video: FlashBack Connect
At the export definition, set the embedded import definition property to “custom”
Click on the button “Generate the import definition”
Export the Excel file.
You can now send the Excel file to the customer so he can fill the columns with the data you want to import.
Go to imports and add a new import.
Select: Import with an enbedded defintion and upload the Excel file.
Click on import.
The rows from the Excel list are read in, and your import is complete.
Also note that you can use the top row of your sheet to add notes (I usually make these hints yellow or use another background color to indicate fields that need to be filled) and just tell the import definition to look for the rowheaders on row 2.
