Conditionally e-mail the result of an expression

Hi,
We are looking for a way to periodically run expressions.
If such expression returns a certain value (true or > 0 for example) we would like to be informed by e-mail.
I have looked at data collections but that does not seem to be the right tool for this.
Of course in the architect we could create a process with the expression and send an e-mail if applicable and put that process in the task scheduler, but I was wondering if something like this was already built in a component.
Checked the app server but could not find a component that does this.

Thanks that is very helpful!

I quickly tested and with the log rules it indeed creates a record in the application log.

I will test this further.
